Comics graded and encapsulated ("slabbed") by CGC, CBCS, PGX, and other grading services are sealed in a hard plastic case. Over time, these cases may show minor cosmetic wear, including surface scratches, small smudges inside the inner well, Newton rings (rainbow-like light patterns caused by contact between the plastic and the comic), and other general handling wear. This is common, expected, and outside our control — it is not a defect in the comic itself.
Minor case imperfections are considered normal, acceptable wear and do not affect the grade, authenticity, or value of the comic inside. Unfortunately we are unable to provide any discount or refund due to minor case defects. While we are extremely careful in our handling of our slabbed comics, it is not uncommon for books come to us with defects due to age or grading company quality control issues. Just part of the hobby.
It's important to remember that a graded comic's value is based on the comic book itself not the outer case. Comic valuation resources such as GoCollect, GPAnalysis, CovrPrice, and others price comics based on the book's grade, not cosmetic case condition.
